Umme Mahbuba

I am passionate about

I am passionate to do community servicing through leadership for the betterment of my country as well as the world. Therefore I am connected and spend a lot of time in community servicing in different nonprofit organizations to make people aware about different type of social problems to bring a positive changes in the world. Besides working in different nonprofit social organizations to motivate young people to get involved in community service works as leaders and active citizen, I am personally doing a project on child labor in Bangladesh to come up with a sustainable and better solution to stop child labor and create a better education system for the working children in Bangladesh. To stop gender based violence especially violence against women I am working with different nonprofit organizations mainly using new media and networks as tools to create awareness among the people especially the young generation. Besides writing article in several newspapers and magazine and blogs, through my photography I like to bring up critical environmental issues of Bangladesh. To fulfill my goals as successful activist and active leader, I am passionate to learn from different fields of knowledge to come up with better sustainable and applicable solutions.

Actions

This year I have founded a nonprofit organization "Women Empowerment for Equity (WEE) Foundation" which aims to provide leadership tanning to young women leaders and grassroots women leaders to bring a substantial improvement in the lives of underprivileged women with the help of young women leaders who wants to bring positive change in the world. Moreover, I enjoy working in various fields to experience new things and building networks with people from diverse background. In 2011, I participated at the Study of the US Institutes, a competitive and intense exchange program supported by the US State Department. I was a volunteer teacher of a primary school in slum area where most of the students were child labor, so continuing my experience I start doing a project on Child labor in Chittagong, Bangladesh to come up with a solution of this problem. I did a project and research on the Canary in Coalmine Avian Diversity as an academic summer project with students from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, to see the environmental impact on birds and to continue with this I photograph critical environmental issues to create awareness. I am doing a project with World Pulse as Bangladesh Outreach Volunteer where I am trying to involve Bangladeshi women to raise their voice through the World Pulse network. I did internship at Standard Chartered Bank, which helped me to understand the function of profit based organizations. I am an Executive Member of the UN Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh. I am working as a Head of Communication in Center for Leadership Assistance and Promotion.
